Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is Planet Medical Services Inc.?
A.   Planet Medical Service Inc. is a non-profit organization created exclusively to provide health, education and humanitarian aid to the Democratic  Republic of
the Congo and other impoverished areas. We are based in Smithfield, Va. and received 501©(3) status in May 2005. Our purpose is to provide basic
medical care to impoverished areas. Third World countries would receive first priority where the need is greatest.

Q. Why was DR Congo chosen for humanitarian aid?
A.   DR Congo is in the midst of the worst human suffering in terms of lives lost since World War II. The aftermath of a near decade long war has claimed nearly
5.4 million people. Each month 45,000 Congolese are dying from the effects of war, disease and malnutrition. In terms of pledged humanitarian support,
DR Congo has been largely abandoned. Children bear the brunt of the suffering.

Q. Does Planet Medical Services Inc. help other countries in need?
A.     Planet Medical Services Inc. is committed to offering basic medical care to any area where a serious need arises. At present our primary focus is on Third
World countries where the need is greatest.

Q. What is the immediate objective of Planet Medical Services Inc.?
A.   Our first major project is to build a medical clinic in DR Congo. The clinic to be named the Emile S. Kolongo Medical Facility would be built in the state of
Bandundu, about 300 miles southwest of the capital Kinshasa. The clinic would be staffed to provide first response emergency medical care and daily basic
healthcare. Services at Emile would be coordinated with existing healthcare facilities and provide emergency mobile transport to get more serious cases to
areas where they could receive the best medical treatment. Ultimately, prototype clinics would be built in other areas to provide healthcare to those
       communities.

Q. What kind of medical services will the clinic offer?
A.   The Emile S.Kolongo Medical Facility would provide emergency medical care on an as needed basis. Basic medical care would include examinations,
treatment, counseling and medications for such chronic care needs as diabetes, high blood pressure, prenatal, dietary regimens and other primary care
areas. In addition, HIV/AIDS patients would receive free counseling and treatment, including educational material on behavioral changes and sexual habits.
Eligible patients would also receive free anti-retroviral medicines.

Q. Can I join a mission to DR Congo?
A.   Two missions trips a year are currently planned for DR Congo. Interested parties and supporters are welcome. Contact Dr. Nsekenene Kolongo at

bnkolongo@yahoo.com or call 757.215.4184. Also contact Moses Pollard at Ambassadors for Christ.

Q. What is your most urgent need?
A.   Financial support, of course, to fund the Emile S. Kolongo Medical Facility. But other areas of support are needed as well. Medicines and medical supplies
are needed to treat a variety of chronic healthcare conditions. You can arrange to have Dr. Kolongo or another representative speak to members of your
church, organization, school or club. Prayers and support are also encouraged.

Q. How can one effort help improve conditions in a country so vast and with problems as complex as exist in DR Congo?
A.   Timely healthcare and treatment can save one person’s life; prevention can save numberless ones. Partnered with faith-based organizations and private
donors, Planet Medical Services Inc. plans to build satellite medical clinics throughout DR Congo to offer basic medical care to nearly 18.5 million people
who have no access to medical care. Of course, one organization cannot do it alone. Dr. Kolongo hopes that Planet Medical Services Inc. will serve as an
example for other groups to follow. It is our belief that everybody deserves good medical care.
